1. Your email archive data
MBOX File Viewer (the App) is provided by Coobbi. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App to work with MBOX email archives, view advertising, or make purchases.
The App lets you open, index, search, read, and export MBOX email archives on your device.
- MBOX files you select, email bodies, headers, attachments, and search terms are processed locally on your device by default.
- We do not upload your MBOX files, email content, attachments, sender or recipient information, or search terms to our servers. We do not provide this email content to advertising providers.
- To improve the App experience, the App may store recent-file records, mailbox indexes, full-text indexes, attachment metadata indexes, and temporary preview files locally on your device. These are stored in app-private storage or in locations you explicitly select through the Android system file picker.
- You can remove recent-file records in the App. Removing a record only removes the App's record and does not delete the original MBOX file.
2. Android file access and exports
The App uses the Android Storage Access Framework, also known as the system file picker, to read files you actively select. It requests read access only for the selected document.
When you choose to export an email or attachment, the App writes data only to the destination you explicitly select through the Android system interface. Attachment preview may create a temporary file in the App cache. That file is shared with another app only when you actively choose to open the preview, using Android's secure content-sharing mechanism.
3. Advertising
The free version of the App may show banner advertising provided by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) on Home, Mailbox, and Attachment Browser. Ads are not shown in Message Detail, Filters, Full-text Search, export flows, the paywall, or progress screens.
To provide, measure, limit, and, where you consent and applicable law permits, personalize advertising, Google and its partners may process categories of information under their own policies, including:
- device and online identifiers, such as the advertising ID;
- IP address, device information, network information, and diagnostic information;
- ad impressions, clicks, and related interaction information; and
- consent choices and privacy preferences connected to ad serving.
The App does not send your MBOX files, email content, attachments, or search queries to advertising providers.
Where applicable, the App uses Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage advertising consent. If UMP requires a privacy-options entry point, you can change your choices in Settings > Privacy choices. For information about Google's processing of advertising data, see the Google Privacy Policy.
Lifetime Pro
After you purchase and unlock Lifetime Pro, the App does not request advertising consent, initialize the advertising SDK, request ads, or display ads. The App may still communicate with Google Play Billing to restore or verify your purchase.
4. In-app purchases
The App offers a one-time Lifetime Pro purchase. Purchases, payments, and refunds are handled by Google Play and its payment services. We do not directly collect or store your full payment-card information. The App may receive purchase status, product-price, and purchase-restoration results from Google Play Billing in order to provide or restore Pro features.
5. Information we do not collect
Except for third-party processing described in the Advertising and In-app purchases sections, we do not operate a server-side database to upload, store, or sell your email archive content. The App does not require you to create an account and does not use your email content for ad targeting.
6. Data retention and deletion
- Local MBOX data, indexes, and cached files remain on your device until you remove the relevant records, clear App data, uninstall the App, or the system clears cached files.
- You can remove app-private local data by clearing App data or uninstalling the App through Android system settings.
- Retention and deletion of advertising and purchase-related data are handled by Google under its privacy policies and applicable law.
7. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under the digital age of consent in their jurisdiction. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to a third-party service without appropriate authorization, please contact us using the details below.
8. Security
The App uses Android platform sandboxing, the system file picker, and secure content URIs to limit access to local files. Internet transmissions are handled by Google advertising or Google Play Billing services according to their security practices. No security measure can guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product, legal, or regulatory changes. When we do, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
